August 2025 Home of the Month

We’re proud to feature 855 36th Street as August’s Home of the Month! Owned by Jay Halsted and lovingly cared for year-round by Les Davies, this charming 1937 Minimal Traditional home sits prominently at the top of the street on a double lot, thirty feet above sea level. The home’s classic brick and lap-siding façade pairs beautifully with a standout interior feature—a living room crafted entirely of cypress, including the walls, ceiling, and fireplace mantle, all brightened with a pickling technique that enhances the wood’s natural beauty.

Over the years, the home has seen thoughtful updates, including a gourmet kitchen, Italian tilework in the dining room, and a converted garage studio—one of the first attached garages in the area. Most recently, Les added lush new Zoysia sod to the front lawn and is putting his $50 Home Depot gift card toward even more outdoor improvements.
